Insanely Good Chocolate Macaroons
Years ago I got caught up in the raw food movement. This is one of the recipes that stuck. It’s a raw chocolate macaroon that I reach for when I need a little chocolate fix without straying too far from the foods I normally reach for. Break out your dehydrator and gather these 6 simple ingredients.
Ingredients:
3 cups dried, unsweetened coconut flakes
1 1/2 cups cocao powder
1 cup maple syrup
1/3 cup coconut butter/oil
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
Mix all the ingredients together and stir well making sure to get all the coconut oil clumps out. Using a small cookie dough scooper, scoop rounds of the dough onto a dehydrator screen or cookie sheet if your oven has a dehydrator option. Ours does so that is what I use. Dehydrate at 115 degree for 12-24 hours, or until crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. These make great little Valentine’s Day gifts too. Gluten free, egg free, and dairy free. Enjoy!
