My Groundhog Prediction

All the sudden I feel a little bit like a groundhog. I stepped outside my head, saw my shadow, and now all I want to do is crawl back in my head but I can't.  The world saw me.

After my last newsletter about being seen, I made a reel on Instagram about how gardening can release you from the grips of grief.  It was my full heart dished up on a silver platter. Thankfully, humans are kind in their core because people from all over the world sent messages of love and understanding. Grief is something we all work through in our gardens and no one is alone.

Seeing yourself, and sharing your whole self outside your mind, is the very first step (albeit the hardest step too) at being seen by the world.  At the time of my last newsletter on January 8, I had worked for 7 years on Instagram then in a matter of 3 weeks I quadrupled my following through one singular heartfeltpost that has now been seen by over 2.5M people. 55,000 of them decided to follow, 10,000 people shared it with a friend, and 17,000 saved it.   It wasn't an algorithm that liked me for the day. I've been doing this too long and know that that's a bunch of bologna. People respond quickly to real content and grief is something so many people hold.  If you didn't see the reel, you can watch it here.

With this raw truth about why I garden, I've realized that I've been going down the wrong path with my online classes. In the past, I developed classes to help the market gardener but I now realize its not the market gardener that I'm passionate about helping. Its the home gardener! Its my best friend that knows nothing about gardening but desperately needs a garden in their life and has no idea where to begin.  I personally believe that everyone needs a garden of some sort in their life to contemplate their own individuality--their strengths, their weaknesses, and their own mortality.

To save me from making the same mistake again, I'd love some help working through this idea for an online beginner gardener's course. I'm looking for 10 people who could jump on a 30 minute phone call with me this weekend, or next week, in exchange for a bar of my handmade soap (which I can ship) or a bunch of tulips (you'd have to pick up in Arvada, CO).  Send me an email if your interested.

Also, today is the last day to sign up for the Winter CSA. It will begin next week on Friday, February 9th just in time for Valentine's Day. Farmgate Friday's will also start up next Friday for anyone who just wants to stop by and shop the studio and extras. Looking forward to seeing many of you there.

My best prediction.... spring will be early,

Gina
