Chasing Light
capture the ethereal fleeting moment of light & flowers - A Floral Photography retreat with gina & lynn
September 18, 19 & 20
A beloved retreat returns this year…. Join us for a weekend of floral design and photography with Lynn Townsend and Gina Schley . View photo gallery from last year.
Lynn and Gina will guide you in creative photography and flower arranging - both indoors and out in the garden. You’ll learn how to see and work with all types of natural light, while developing the artistic eye and technical skills to design and photograph the ethereal beauty of flowers.
During this retreat, you’ll master designing a European-style spiral bound bouquet and a lush garden centerpiece, and you’ll go home with both. You’ll then learn to photograph “light and airy” styled images, as well as “dark and moody” studio shots, so that you can capture the true essence of your designs. Whether you are a floral enthusiast, an amateur photographer, or a small business owner, this retreat will build your skills and give you time to be an artist.
Lynn, a graduate of a renowned photojournalism program, is the founder of David Lynn Photography and Illumine Photography, two thriving brands that reflect her wide-ranging expertise and 20 years of professional photography experience. Lynn has developed a deep love for photographing flowers and farms, especially through her monthly work at SHEGROWS, where she captures the full cycle of the seasons: planting, blooming, fading, and renewal. Her floral work reflects her broader approach of capturing natural light, feeling beauty deeply, and creating from a place of intention.
Gina, owner of SHEGROWS, came to sustainable floral design through the garden. She has been involved in urban agriculture for 15 years, studied design and photography in Italy in college, and has woven it together through flowers. She has an intuitive and creative approach to capturing the beauty of flowers, in the garden and in the studio, with her iPhone and DSLR, and she has cultivated a large, dedicated online following through her work.
